Artists' Point 2018
International Art Symposium and Festival Kopanice bez hranice took a place for second time in White Carpathians on the boarders between Slovakia and Czech Republic in the village named Vrbovce. The project is based on art residency programme which hosted this year professional visual artists Laila Seidel (Germany) Peter Dechet (Slovakia), and guest artist Katerina Pekna (Czech Republic), and musicians Olena Powichrowski (France), Jamieson Mackay (Canda).The main aim of the art symposium is to reflect the local folklore of the Vrbovce region in contemporary art practice and promote it abroad through the art works and music compositions of young artists who came to learn more about specific features of the region and its folklore and to gather inspiration by the place during ten days programme.
The Final festival showcased the paintings and results of jamming sessions of artists participating in art residency programme. Paintings was accompanied by the exhibition of the photograpies of the Kopanice region from Pavol Vandelia. The Kopanice bez hranice 2019 has also featured in big scale craftsmen from Vrbovce like Miroslav Marekek, Jan Patinka and Darina Skodackova, whose sculptures and craft out of straw, wicker and corn leaves has been representing Vrbovce for many years not only in Slovakia but also abroad. The workshops with local artists along with artists participating in art residency created homely atmosphere for many visitors. Apart residing musicians who performed along with local bluse-rock band Flying Fish visitors could enjoy the folklore tunes of Krananska Musika from Czech Republic and accordion players of Vrbovce.
Art symposium was organised by PPIAC, Slovensko in collaboration with Vrbovce Municipality, Trencin District, Vrbovce Lutheran Church and the partners as Myjava Town, Chemolak, and ARVED.
